If you’re one of Leduc’s many passionate dog owners, you’ll want to know what’s happening at the dog parks in our community. The information below should help outline upcoming construction impacts at the K9 Off-Leash Dog Park, and potential projects on the horizon that could shape your next dog-park adventure.

And if you’re ever in doubt, you can always find up-to-date information about dog parks in Leduc on the City’s website.

Construction notice

Alternative entrance at K9 Off-Leash Dog Park

In the coming weeks, the multiway and temporary entrance to the K9 Off-Leash Dog Park (Entrance 2 on the map below) will be temporarily closed for several days due to the nearby installation of a sanitary line. Please access the park through an alternate gate (Entrance 3) during this time. Once the sanitary line work is complete, the multiway and Entrance 2 will reopen. We expect Entrance 2 and Entrance 3 to be available for use until Spring 2026. The date will be confirmed and communicated in advance.

Please follow all posted signs. We appreciate your patience as this work is completed.

Proposed Upcoming Projects – Pending Budget Approval

K9 Off-Leash Dog Park Reconfiguration

A reconfiguration of the K9 Off-Leash Dog Park, required to accommodate a proposed new school, will be discussed during 2026 budget deliberations.

If approved, the dog park will change in shape but the overall size will stay the same; the main entrance (Entrance 1, currently closed) will be moved slightly north. The dog park will continue to have a fenced small dog area, the memorial bridge and other features visitors have come to enjoy.

We anticipate the park will remain open when the fence reconfiguration work occurs, which would start after the current construction is complete in Spring 2026.

Deer Valley Dog Park

The Deer Valley Dog Park was introduced in 2023 as a two-year pilot project in the Deer Valley neighbourhood. The off-leash area has been positively received by visitors. Based on feedback after the first year, the pilot space was expanded with benches, trees and waste bins to enhance comfort and appeal of the site.

The dog park will be discussed during 2026 budget deliberations and pending budget approval may become a permanent feature in Leduc proposed for 2028. If approved, the temporary site will continue seasonally (May – Sept.) until a year-round permanent amenity is in place.
