The FCSS Advisory Board Annual Update was delivered to City Council on June 15, highlighting ongoing work to strengthen existing preventative social services and connections across Leduc.

The FCSS Advisory Board plays an active role in reviewing and recommending funding for local community organizations through the Grants to Organizations program.

In 2026, the Board is engaging with Riseup Society of Alberta, LINX and BGC Leduc as part of its planned organizational outreach.

Modernizing the Grants Process

A joint sub-committee of Parks, Recreation and Culture and the FCSS Advisory Board has been working since late 2024 to review and update the Municipal Grants Policy based on community feedback. They presented recommendations to Council based on their findings in early 2026.

Changes to the Grants to Organizations program will be addressed by the committee in 2027.

Getting Involved in the Community

FCSS Advisory Board members participate in numerous community events throughout the year including Pride Flag raising, Indigenous Peoples Day, Summer in the City and VolunteerFest. Connecting directly with residents at community events furthers the Board’s purpose of advising Council on social issues that matter most to residents.
