As summer comes to a close and residents settle back into familiar routines, the connections made over the past few months continue to strengthen our community in meaningful ways.
Throughout the summer, the City of Leduc Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) brought residents together through a variety of programs, events and workshops designed to foster connection, belonging and community spirit. From neighbourhood gatherings to learning opportunities, these initiatives created spaces for people of all ages and backgrounds to connect, share experiences and build lasting relationships.
Neighbours came together at block parties across the city, turning streets and parks into welcoming spaces for conversation, laughter and new friendships. Residents also gathered at the Good Neighbour Day BBQ to enjoy food, activities and community connection, while Wee Free Libraries encouraged the sharing of books, stories and a love of reading throughout local neighbourhoods.
Through Sincerely, Leduc, residents shared messages of kindness, gratitude and encouragement with local seniors, helping strengthen the sense of care and connection that makes Leduc a welcoming place to live. Leduc’s older adults also came together during Seniors’ Week celebrations to enjoy live music and one another’s company.
FCSS also offered workshops focused on social connection and community integration. Making Friends in the Adult World and Creating a Welcoming Community for Newcomers provided practical tools, insights and opportunities for residents to build confidence, expand their social networks and feel more connected to the community around them.
Each program and event contributed to a larger goal: helping people feel connected to their neighbours, community and one another. Whether through a conversation at a block party, a book exchanged through a Wee Free Library, or a learning opportunity setting the stage for individual and community success, these moments helped create a stronger sense of belonging across Leduc.
