Leduc City Council reflects on a successful 2019

Leduc City Council is pleased to share the 2019 Annual Report with the community. The report is based on the 2019-2022 City of Leduc Strategic Plan, centered on four focus areas:

  • A City Where People Want to Live, Work and Play
  • A City with a Plan for the Future
  • An Economically Prosperous City and Region
  • A Collaborative Community Builder and Regional Partner

The 2019 Annual Report showcases accomplishments and milestones that occurred in 2019.

“I am proud of the work we have done as a city and with our partners, and the 2019 Annual Report is a great reflection of this success,” says Leduc Mayor Bob Young. “This past year has presented us with some tough economic challenges, but I believe our council and administration have done an excellent job at meeting current goals as well as focusing on the future.”

Some highlights of the report include:

  • Seniors Active Afternoons and Active 8’s and 9’s saw more than 2,300 users take advantage of the free membership options at the Leduc Recreation Centre
  • The Maclab Centre for the Performing Arts hosted more than 15,400 attendees in the city’s first year of operations and management of the centre
  • The city focused on environmental efforts by expanding the Eco-Station, resulting in 40,592 users (a 32 per cent increase over 2018)
  • The Telford Lake Multiway trail was completed, adding to the nearly 70 km of multiway trail in Leduc
  • The city enhanced regional collaboration and initiatives through partnerships such as Edmonton Global, the Edmonton Airport Accord, the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board, Leduc Regional Leadership Forum, Regional Transit Services Commission and more
  • The city signed a partnership agreement with the Leduc Golf and Country Club to help preserve green space in our community

“We are thrilled to share some of the work our community has done, and we will continue to encourage new opportunities, promote innovation and foster forward-thinking solutions now and into the future,” says Young.
