Alton Drive Area Roadwork

Roads in the Lakeside Estates and Windrose area have been identified for reconstruction or overlay this season to ensure their continued stability and safety for years to come. Permanent speed tables will also be placed on Alton Drive north of Black Gold Drive. 


Reconstructions:  

  • Alton Drive (between Black Gold Drive and railroad tracks)  
    • Scheduled when school is out for summer break, includes curb & monowalk replacement 

Surface Overlays:

  • Windrose Drive (between Grant MacEwan Blvd. And Willis Crescent) 
    • Includes minor spot repairs to curb and sidewalk 
  • Alton Drive (between railroad tracks and Windrose Drive) 
    • Includes minor spot repairs to curb and sidewalk 
  • Alton Drive (between 50 Avenue and Black Gold Drive) 
    • Includes minor spot repairs to curb, sidewalks, crossings; and permanent speed table construction 
  • Alexander Drive (between Alton Drive and Alpaugh Crescent) 
  • Allindale Place 

2022 Construction Project - Alton Drive


There may be temporary periods of impacts to street parking, waste collection, mail delivery, and bussing in order to complete the work as efficiently as possible. Residents living in the area are encouraged to please keep an eye out for signage and additional details from the contractor throughout the season.

Project Update:

Sept. 29, 2022 Alton Drive is complete.
Sept. 8, 2022 Construction of the speed tables is ongoing.  One portion of Alton Dr was not accepted by the City after inspection and the Contractor will be repaving.
Aug. 25, 2022 Paving and concrete are complete everywhere except for the speed tables.  Landscaping will be complete by the end of the week, with the speed tables on Alton Drive being installed over the next two weeks.  
Aug. 18, 2022 Paving is now complete. Landscape restorations and the installation of the speed table between Black Gold Drive and 50 Avenue will start next week. 
Aug. 12, 2022 Concrete work is complete.  The first lift of asphalt has been placed on Alton Drive from Blackgold Drive to 50 Avenue, and from Windrose Drive to the tracks.  The reconstruction on Alton by the schools will be done by Saturday, with first lift of paving on Monday.  Final lift of asphalt is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday next week, with closures on Alton to complete the paving.
Aug. 3, 2022 Concrete work on Alton Drive near the school is expected to be done by the end of this week, with reconstruction (foaming) scheduled for next week. Access between Blackgold Drive and William Bell Drive will be restricted during the daytime when reconstruction work begins. Milling and paving of Alton Drive between 50 Avenue and Black Gold Drive is scheduled for the week of August 9.
July 21, 2022 Milling and paving is complete on Allindale Place, Alexander Drive, and Windrose Drive.  Concrete work is ongoing on Alton Drive by the schools with reconstruction of the roadway (and scheduled closures) expected in early August.
July 14, 2022 Milling is complete on Allindale Place and Alexander Drive with paving happening this week. Concrete on Alton Drive across from the school is ongoing – when west side is completed, work will begin on the east side. Milling to occur this week on Windrose Drive followed by paving next week. 
July 7, 2022 Concrete is complete on Allindale and the north side of Alexander Drive. Concrete removals have begun on the south side of Alexander Drive, as well as Alton Drive by the schools.  Concrete work will be ongoing for the next two-to-three weeks.
June 29, 2022 Ongoing - Concrete repairs have begun on Alexander Drive and Allindale Place, and are anticipated to be complete next week. Repairs will then begin on Windrose and Alton Drive south of the CP tracks. Concrete removals for Alton Drive where reconstruction is taking place (between Black Gold Drive and the CP tracks) will also begin next week.
Feb. 23, 2022 Scheduled - Project currently in the design and procurement phase. Additional information will follow prior to construction.
